There are two types of laser carbon peel treatments:
1. Complexion ‘freshener’ (only one treatment)
This is a treatment undertaken if you’re looking for an immediate boost in your complexion. This is often booked just before an event, such as a wedding and should be carried out three days in advance. It freshens the complexion by removing outer layers of dead skin along with blackheads and whiteheads whilst reducing pore size.
2. Skin rejuvenation (course of treatments)
This treatment should be undertaken if you’re looking to resurface the skin and tackle wrinkles, as it penetrates deeper into the epidermis, denaturing collagen and elastin fibres. The result? Regeneration of collagen fibres for younger looking skin, reduced pore size and skin texture, especially fine lines and crows feet. One treatment every two weeks is required for three to six months.
Benefits
Cleansing
The carbon paste absorbs oil and contaminants from within the pores. The laser then destroys the carbon particles, eliminating this with it.
Exfoliating
Dead skin cells and blackheads are blasted by the laser, resulting in smoother, more radiant skin. It also reduces the P.A bacteria responsible for acne and reduces pore size giving a more even skin tone.
It also shrinks sebaceous glands, resulting in a reduction in oil production, reducing congestion build-up in the pores and ultimately a reduction in acne and spots.
Rejuvenation
Targets the deep layers of skin to stimulate collagen production, targeting wrinkles and results in plumper, firmer skin, leaving the skin feeling tight and glowing.
What do the treatments consist of?
The skin is cleansed and then carbon paste is applied to the skin and left to dry. This paste opens the pores and brings dirt to the surface. The treatments differ as the laser wavelengths are different. However, the process is the same.
I use the laser to blast the carbon paste off the skin and then we cleanse the skin and apply an aloe mask to fully hydrate the area.
Is this treatment painful?
You should only feel a slight tingling sensation as the laser vaporises the carbon. There will be no pain whatsoever.
