Let’s start with a question……Is shaving the absolute bane of your life? Well, that may be exaggerating it slightly, but I have to say, I used to find it pretty bloody annoying, especially when the sun decided to finally rear its head come summertime and the weather proved slightly warmer than its current state.
I have dark hair – I go to the gym a fair amount each week and ended up shaving every day. It’s boring, it’s laborious and ingrown hairs are just an utter pain. Yes, I appreciate that not everyone has a heap of money, especially at the moment, to chuck at hair removal and other such treatments, but let me show you some calculations…..You might be quite amazed – Because, in the grand scheme of things, it really is a very cheap way of getting rid of unwanted hair. And to top it off, it’s permanent!
This calculation is taking waxing from age 20 to age 60, every six weeks. The price on the left is waxing and the right is laser hair removal:

Bikini: £15,080 vs £600
Full leg: £14,040 vs £1,200
Lip and chin: £6,240 vs £750
TOTAL COST: £40,040 vs £2,950!!!!
That’s an insane price difference! Laser hair removal isn’t even 10% of the overall cost of waxing! And think of the time saved and even fuel/parking costs at my in-home, local clinic.
How does it work?
Comprising 6-8 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. This allows all stages of the hair cycle to be targeted, ensuring permanent removal by the end of your course.
Does it hurt? In short, no, or at least it should be pain-free if administered properly at the correct settings for your skin and hair type.
You must not wax, pluck or epilate before treatment. Instead, you must shave 24-48 hours before your session. The laser needs a target to ‘grab’ onto. You can shave between sessions also.
A patch test needs to be carried-out before treatment commences to ensure no adverse reaction.

Hair growth reduction: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) & endometriosis
Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or endometriosis often have excess hair growth caused by high androgen (male hormone) levels, which can cause unwanted hair growth (hirsutism) on the face, chest and buttocks. This affects about 70% of women with these conditions.
Lots of women will have to shave on a daily basis which is a drain both mentally and from a time perspective. You may also be left with uncomfortable ingrown hairs.
Laser hair removal will not permanently remove hair, due to differing growth cycles. However, it will reduce growth and we have found that treatment just once a month is extremely effective.
